Welcome to the Agawam High School Construction Project page. Here you will find answers and information regarding the project background, process, and next steps.
The Agawam High School Building Committee typically meets once every month; meetings are subject to change, please check the Town of Agawam calendar at https://www.agawam.ma.us/agendacenter and the schedule page on this site for more meetings.
After the successful YES vote to the new high school, the project moved through Module 5 of the MSBA process by entering into a Project Funding Agreement with the MSBA, followed by Module 6 Design Development, which was completed in December 2024.
Moving forward, the Design team will work on Construction Drawings, and the CM (Fontaine) mobilized on site on April 18, 2025 to start the preparation site work, with actual construction starting in June 2025.
The groundbreaking ceremony for the new Agawam high school was held on June 3, 2025 with great attendance and tons of excitement from everyone.
The project had a soft start on site on April 21, 2025 with placing the trailers and installing the construction fence around the site. Actual construction will then start June 25 with the Geothermal well drilling.
Phase 1 – early enabling and construction of the community wing building & associated parking April 2025 – December 2026
Phase 2 – construction of the academic wing and associated parking January 2026 – June 2028
Phase 3 – demolition of existing building, completion of athletic fields and final completion June 2028 – December 2028
